Art Glass

Artglass is defined as objects that are primarily decorative sculptural pieces and not necessarily functional. Artglass originate in the 19th century, but there are pieces that date back much earlier. Most early glass had a function, such as receptacles for storing lotions and oils, or to protect artwork. Typically artglass is handblown into sculpture shapes with vibrant colours, which reflect the light, allowing it to standout and sparkle, making it a beautiful centrepiece for any space in the home. Collectible works of artglass have been produced across the globe by makers such as Murano, Kosta Boda, Moser, Laligue, Peter Layton and many others.
